Hepplewhite Inlaid Mahogany Bowfront Chest, Massachusetts, c.1790

This is an exceptional bowfront chest with visually exciting variegated rosewood used as the main crossbanding element which is framed in with line inlay around highly figured mahogany drawer fronts. The variegated rosewood has alternating light/dark elements, the light, which is a sapline, appears randomly throughout and gives this chest a dynamic aspect.
