Classical Carved Mahogany Tilt-top Table, possibly Boston, c.1830
This table is composed of a solid shaped top of striking ribbon grain mahogany with a swirling clamshell in the center, it was carefully chosen as almost a painting by its craftsmen. The base is turned with a large urn, ring, and balluster turnings. The style of the saber legs is related to two other tables in our collection. Interestingly, the entire leg and paw foot is carved from one piece of wood.
