Neoclassical Mahogany Expansion Dining Room Table, New York, c.1825
This very practical dining room table is developed around a main fluted column with collar supported by a base with cylinder shaped supports, a style which is seen in French Restoration furniture. It is one of a small grouping of furniture produced in New York during the first quarter of the 19th century by cabinet shops who are exposed most directly by the French influence, i.e. school of Lanuier, et al.
