Large Classical Over-mantel Mirror with Carved Cornucopias, c.1840

This mirror retains its original gold leaf over its original carved wood frame, which is embellished at each corner with two vigorously carved cornucopias. It is quite dimensional—with the cornucopia coming out from the plane of the mirror frame—and makes a strong statement.
This mirror has also been used vertically and is equally effective in that orientation.
