Mahogany Gothic Card Table, New York, c.1840

The serpentine top relies on a series of continuous curves which are similarly echoed in the apron. The top is composed of solid mahogany and the apron banded with figured crotch mahogany inset of a solid mahogany border. All rests upon a stylized lyre form with an original drop pendant and carving below.
