Mahogany Neoclassical Card Table w/ Eagle Heads, probably New York, c.1820

This table relates to a small group of exuberantly carved tables demonstrating the best of the carver’s art. The leaves are of dense, solid mahogany, with a sophisticated apron with convex and reeded elements flanked by unique, elaborately carved corner blocks which additionally use a punchwork background.
