Rosewood Commode with Marble top and Hidden Bottom Drawer, England, c.1860

This chest is composed of wildly figured rosewood veneers, which make a striking visual statement. The marble top is a variegated black stone, all in excellent condition. A typical of the period, the sides are each one unpaneled piece, so as not to hinder the strong visual statement created by this exotic wood.
