Mahogany Federal Drop Leaf Table, probably Philadelphia, c.1815

This table has a beautifully executed ovoid shaped center pedestal supported by reeded saber legs terminating in elaborate brass casters. The top is of dense solid one-board Santo Domingo mahogany of beautiful ribbon grain. The edge is reeded, which is an unusual and fine embellishment that relates nicely to the reeding on the legs. This table has relatively large leaves and is suitable as a small dining room table.
