This large table is composed of solid one-board stock...literally three large heavy boards. The wood has remained stable through all these years, as the consistency of the grain is very uniform throughout (see detail below). Please note, this is not the midsection banquet table with D-ends. The feet are classically turned in a Sheraton mode with brass ball terminals typically seen on New York Furniture, and used by the best makers of the time, Duncan Phyfe notwithstanding. The surface is an old surface.
With six legs, this table is quite stable. Tables like this are often used against a wall when not in use, sometimes with one leaf open, which makes it quite serviceable.
