Mahogany and Bird’s Eye Maple China Cabinet, America, c.1890
This is a centennial interpretation of the traditional breakfront using benchmade cabinetry and earlier Federal design motifs. The geometric glazed doors et al are crafted in the traditional manner with complete wood framing typically found in the glass doors of secretaries, breakfronts et al. Further, the turned reeded feet are reminiscent of the earlier Federal style, reeding of which is further embellished throughout this piece.
