Mahogany and Satinwood Inlaid Regency Secretary, c.1810, England.

This Regency, or George III, secretary exhibits a well-detailed interior, a tour de force of drawers, doors, and cubbyholes embellished with satinwood, crosshatched with ebony and graced with its original ivory pulls. Its monumental width almost makes this secretary want to be a breakfront in form, but the grand interior says otherwise. All the drawerfronts, sides, etc. are composed of solid mahogany, the quality of which is wonderfully aged with time, exhibiting a golden patina.
