Inlaid Mahogany Louis XIV style Ladies Desk, late 19th century

This desk is of a famous French form, which is finished on all sides and is noted for the wonderful convex swells on the sides, desk lid, etc., it is a study of wonderful curves. The legs exhibit a fine and fully developed cabriole form embellished with brass trim which coordinates with the rest of the brass trim highlighting its outline. If shape and form were not enough, this desk is further inlaid on its exterior as well as with satinwood on its interior drawers.
