Mahogany Federal Tilt-top Table on Saber Legs, American, c.1815

Private Collection

The top is composed of dense, ribbon grain Santo Domingo mahogany with a reeded edge. The turned column support is urn-shaped with acanthus carving. The base is restrained with a single-reeded edge saber form, all supported on its original ball feet.
