A Rare Sheraton Mahogany Tambour Cylinder Desk, Boston, c.1800, attributed to John and Thomas Seymour

The Seymour cylinder desk appears both in the secretary and desk form, and the cylinder desk is rarer than the secretary form. Also, the tambour form of the desk lid, as opposed to the solid wood desk lid, is also the rarest of the form. For a related tambor desk that sold at Christie's in 1990. Note that Seymour uses magnificent striped solid mahogany on the sides, and equally beautiful mahogany veneers on the drawerfronts.
