Sheraton Mahogany Bow-front Chest, Boston, c.1805

This bow front bureau with solid ribbon grain mahogany top and ovulo corners relies on reeded columns and legs for its primary embellishment. The drawer-fronts are of highly figured mahogany with a concise conforming apron. The brasses are old replacements of a seldom seen neoclassical motif of a reclining woman.
