Classical Country Birch and Bird's Eye Maple Bureau, c.1830

This exuberant example of country expression is revealed throughout this casepiece’s execution. The backsplat is highly stylized with scrolls and carved finial, which is balanced by vigorously turned columns and lower support structure beneath the drawers. This is a very exceptional country piece of dense, solid construction.
