North Shore Mahogany Bureau, c.1810.

This Sheraton bow front chest is one of a grouping of case pieces attributed to the Salem cabinetmaking community of which the names McIntyre and Hook are recognized. This chest is distinguished by its upper case with a pair of drawers supporting a mirror with elegant scrolled mirror supports. This distinctive upper case feature does not appear on many bureaus prior to this time.
