Neoclassical Mahogany Server, Philidelphia, c.1830

This server has an almost elongated pier table form and was used probably as serving piece in a grand room. The carving on the backsplat is very fine and the motif is reminiscent of the earlier Haines/Connelly school. It retains a warm, faded mahogany surface with no major repairs or alterations.
