A.H. Davenport Mahogany Server, Boston, c.1890

This monumental piece was commissioned by Mass. Governor Alvin Fuller and due to its size was obviously used in some official capacity as American "palace" furniture. The acanthus carving and paw feet are of the very highest standard and adds to the impressive stature that this piece commands.
