Painted Corner Cupboard, Pennsylvania, c.1830.

Retaining its original black painted surface, this corner cupboard is a masterful tour de force of traditional, earlier Chippendale form in its use of the broken arch pediment and the door glazing above paneled doors with original wavy glass. The columns reveal later 1830 decorative motifs, i.e. the scrollwork on the lower case and turned Sheraton style feet.
