An Outstanding Large Chippendale 3-Part Mahogany Banquet Table, New England / England, c.1770-80

Three part Chippendale banquet tables are relatively rare.  This table is quite wide (60in.) and of goodly length, (127 in.) making for generous seating.   It rests on bold, square molded legs with an equally beautifully figured mahogany apron.  The top of this table speaks for itself with solid, ribbon grain mahogany.  The wood is dense and through the years, has maintained excellent board shrinkage.  Few of these have survived, and this table has no breaks or alterations, obviously cared for through the years.

We have french polished the table and varnished the top for good wear; of course, all is waxed.

This form is very useful, not only open, but also with the two D-ends joined together making a lovely round table, and the mid-section can serve well against a wall or behind a server functioning as a sideboard or server.  There are museum numbers on the leg, which obviously indicate a potential association to an institution.

Height: 28 in. Width: 60 in. Length: 77 in. - 127 1/2 in.
