A Provincial Walnut Cooling Cabinet, probably French, 18th century
This is a utilitarian cabinet designed with side panels that open, in addition to the front door, which protects fruits vegetables, things ripening. This piece is very heavy, and all of the structure is of dense quality, and construction is pegged and tenoned, and beautifully executed throughout. The hinges are Continental, used in French work, and are quite provincial in character, although crafted like a piece of furniture, and of that quality.
