Pair of Mahogany Banquettes, c.1840.

Private Collection

These banquettes are stylistically developed with unusual carving flanking the crest rail as well as carving on the base support of each banquette. The Serpentine form of modeling is exhibited both in the design of the back support as well as in the base. The base is further embellished with fine crotch mahogany, all supported on stylized bracket feet.
