Queen Anne Slant-top desk, Americana, c.1760
This desk is in a fine state of preservation retaining its original locks, hinges, and traditional Queen Anne pulls used early in the colonies. Desks such as this are typical of work found in Rhode Island and/or nearby coastal Connecticut as is suggested not only by the interior design with stepped interior configuration—customarily found on these pieces—but also the exclusive use of chestnut as its secondary wood.
