The reverse painting of this clock is signed “D.J. Steele” in the sea. Out
Durfee Girandole is similarly signed at the base of the throat glass. D.J.
Steele was a well-respected Boston artist of Durfee’s time, considered to be the
best artist doing this kind of work.
