A Rare Provincial Chippendale Cherry Corner Chair with Claw-and-Ball Feet, Probably Connecticut, Last Quarter, 18th Century

This is a very interesting country corner chair, probably from Connecticut. It immediately caught my eye as one never sees these with claw and ball feet and I felt this would be a nice addition as to showing how fine furniture details are sometimes integrated into the simplest of chairs.  Also, note the stretchers which have turnings in the center, and vase-shaped turnings appear on the legs above the stretchers, similar to the arm supports.

This was brought to me by Jonathan Trace, an all-time dealer who I had a long and fruitful relationship with throughout the years.  His mother was a book dealer, and I remember her sending me out all sorts of material for my growing library of American antique furniture.

Height: 30 ¾ in.  Width: 24 in.
