This pair was part of the Westervelt collection, noting Philadelphia as its origin.  We are not sure of this origin because the Museum of Art New Orleans has on exhibition an identical pair attributing this to a New Orleans cabinetmaker . 

Regardless, these chairs have a wonderful carved lyre.
