Note the hefty scale of this dense, solid mahogany table, probably Boston.c 1830. The column is massive and fully carved throughout by a master. The legs follow through in a cabriole shaped style with carved elements above and carved paw feet below. It’s definitely a masculine type table typical of the later classical development of more solidly built furniture. There are a number of this form produced at the time, but few of this quality… so it’s part of our collection, adding up to the story of this small, very practical table style.
