This lowboy has a very large overhang, which is a most desirable feature for this form, and the corners are beautifully pinched and molded. The entire piece, including the top, has striped walnut with beautiful graining and warm color that is the most valued attribute of these walnut forms. The wood is first growth. The uncarved tombstone drawers indicate an earlier date of 1740/1760. The legs are beautifully modeled and delicate in nature.

This lowboy retains an old, probably original, finish has been overlaid over time with shellac and wax. It is a standout, and its color draws one’s attention, as the amber glow of the walnut is magnificent.
