This is a rare diminutive sideboard/commode produced in New York, c.1790. The half round shape for a case piece was rarely used, and is pure Hepplewhite in design with delicate tapered legs and with the use of contrasting line inlay around all highly figured mahogany surfaces.
Although considered a sideboard or commode, its small size can enable this piece to also function as a demilune pier table.
