A Fine Classical Sheraton Mahogany Worktable, with delicate reeded legs, Thomas Seymour or circle, Boston, c.1805/1810

DEACCESSIONED

The quality of the worktable doesn’t reveal itself at first blush, with its big wooden knobs, (which are of a quality hardwood and possibly original).  They can easily be replaced with fancy brass, but we leave that to a new owner.  The top is composed of beautifully figured dense mahogany and the work is executed extremely finely throughout.   Note the delicate edge molding, and the double panels all around of flame mahogany.  The legs are as thin as they get, and typifies the earlier Sheraton style.  The lower storage drawer is also a beautiful mahogany and is dovetailed; perhaps it was covered at one time, but there is no such indication, and the wood is of first quality.

We have french polished this piece and there are no repairs or alterations whatesoever.
