A Federal / Sheraton Mahogany Inlaid Multi-Function Games Table, New England, c.1810

DEACCESSIONED

This is the most developed games table we have handled.  Not only does it have a sewing basket, which can be removed if desired, but it also has a sliding top which converts to a checkerboard/chessboard, and reveals a backgammon board when the top is completely slid out.  Even further, lower drawer contains a tiltable writing tablet with storage wells alongside and below.
The top also has a plain, inlaid mahogany insert with satinwood crossbanding which matches the skirt below the drawers.  This game table is all supported on densely turned mahogany legs.

These tables are quite rare and often incomplete.  This example is in fine condition with original casters.
