An Impressive Large Classical / Regency Carved Rosewood Library or Writing Table, England, c.1830

DEACCESSIONED

While this is a somewhat long writing table, the depth is standard (27 in.) and the quality is of the very best level.  The scrolled feet are typical of the period.   The table supports, stretcher and platform, are quite delicate, and give this piece a very light aspect, although it is structurally solid.  The wood is nothing less than spectacular.

Pieces of this size generally have condition issues, but this table has none.  It obviously was cared for, and currently has a waxed surface.  The rosewood is outstanding with no chips, dents, et al.  It is a fine example of the form.
