A Rare Porringer Top Queen Anne Tavern Table with Drawer, CT, c.1750-60

DEACCESSIONED

The porringer top is quite rare and this one is interestingly of pine.  The rest of the piece is maple.   Attached please find shots of the unfinished surface underneath and of the top.  This piece is all original.   The top has had quite a life and the old surface reveals itself in the base and top.  The legs are beautifully tapered Queen Anne turned legs on small pads.  The drawer shows an earlier heavier type of dovetail, and appears to retain its old pull.   We haven’t owned another one like this, and for a piece of high style Connecticut country furniture, it’s a standout.

There are no repairs or alterations.
