A Mahogany Queen Anne Highboy Base (now server), c.1770

DEACCESSIONED

Highboys are made in two parts, of which ours is the lower.  They were frequently separated, the base with a board over it of related wood and the chest would now have feet, and serve as a bureau.   This base is beautiful as it has a wonderful fan with a blocked apron that has provincial scrolling and drop pendants.  These have become very useful, practical serving pieces.

Height: 55 in.  Width: 31 in. Depth: 3 in.
