A Hepplewhite Inlaid Mahogany Sideboard with Flame Birch Veneer, Concord, NH/Newburyport, MA, c.1800, attributed to George W. Rogers

DEACCESSIONED

This is a large and commanding sideboard.  However, its space is filled with wonderful inlay throughout, with four broken pilasters above bellflowers and line inlay, terminating in petals of diminishing size on the tapered leg.   If all that weren’t enough, the bottle drawers have beautiful flame birch inlay.

Our attribution is based upon a related desk which features identical individualistic inlays matching those used the sideboard.

This sideboard has been French polished and is in fine condition with figured mahogany throughout.
