A Fine small Chippendale Oak/Mahogany inlaid Tall Case clock, England, second part, 18th century

DEACCESSIONED

This is a small scale clock with a lot going for it.  Note the inlaid conch shell and the inlay work around the door.  The inlay work is quite restrained but it’s there throughout.   Note the swan neck pediment with original old brass rosettes.   The finials are the only replacement, and these are cast in England from the originals.   The movement is in fine condition, with a faceplate in as-new condition baring its original, highly developed hands.  The name “J. Thompson / Acke” (a recognized maker) appears on the face and the movement is original to the clock.

Many of these clocks are reworked basket cases.   This is not one of those.  This is all original, and has been beautifully French polished.
