A Very Fine George II Inlaid Burled Walnut Chest-on-chest with Original Pierced Brasses, England, c.1740-60

DEACCESSIONED

Announcement!  This item will be available at auction from Neal Auction Company on January 26th, 2019.  Preview exhibition is currently underway.  Click here to see our listings at nealauction.com.

This chest-on-chest is in magnificent condition.  There are no repairs or alterations whatsoever.  The brasses are clearly original, which is quite rare, and the feet (which are often lost and replaced) are unquestionably first.  These are heavy pieces, and many of these bracket feet become lost and replaced…these are absolutely first as are the brasses.

The crotch walnut is quite light and cross banded on each drawer with line inlay (see attached).  This piece was handled by the well-respected dealer Anthony Preston, and is for a person that wants the absolute finest example of a well cared for chest-on-chest with the light wooden aspect that crotch walnut emits over time.
