A Fine Classical Mirror with Reverse Painting, Massachusetts, c.1830

This classical and ebonized split baluster mirror is in untouched mint condition.  Reverse painting often fails over time…but this example is perfect, and the painting is as fine as it gets.  Note: the backboard is in untouched condition.

It is rare to find a mirror that practically looks like it was made yesterday… this one, though, is real and of the period.  Although there are many examples of this type, this is the best of the kind that we have had in years; it’s 1 in 1,000.
