A Chippendale Drop Leaf Table with Striped Mahogany and Strong Claw and Ball Feet, North Shore, c.1780

DEACCESSIONED

This is a delicate, mid-sized drop-leaf table.   The thickness of the mahogany on the top gives this table a slender feeling, as do the long cabriole legs with their magnificent arching and good-sized claw and ball feet, all of which says “Look at me! I’m a serious table!”.   The surface is an old refinish, which we have left alone and the only condition issue is an old break to the top of one leg where it meets the apron, and this has been carefully conserved.
