A Federal Inlaid Mahogany Hepplewhite 5-legged Card Table, School of William Whitehead, New York, c.1795

DEACCESSIONED

This is a finely crafted high style New York card table of quality.   Of note is that there is an extra leg which swings out as opposed to one of the rear “stationary legs” supporting the hinged leaf.  This 5th leg is a desirable and rare design, which speaks to the overall quality of the piece throughout.    It is obviously a well-kept piece gracefully showing its polished age and is a treasure in any collection of the best Federal furniture.

There are no alterations or breaks.   Full height.  The top is stable (regarding warpage, which often occurs during winter).
