A Large Regency / Classical Double Pedestal Mahogany Dining Room Table, England, c.1810

DEACCESSIONED

This English table has two extension leaves and opens to a very large size.  When fully closed, it is 83 inches long.   The wood is ribbon grained Cuban mahogany of the finest dense variety.  The edges are beautifully reeded as are the feet and exhibit a very light and fine appearance.  The reeded saber legs terminate in their original cast acanthus casters, which are unusual, as these are more commonly of the paw form.   Of interest is that this table opens practically to a length common to triple pedestal tables: 121 inches (or 10 feet, 1 inch).  This is accomplished by the long supporting members which give this table stability when extended.

Height: 29 in. Width: 47 1/2 in. Length: 83 in. – 121 in.
