A Carved Rococo Gilt Mirror with Jester, Continental, 17th / 18th century

This is an exceptionally well-developed and robustly carved mirror. It is very compact stylistically, and is continental and probably Italian. It is in excellent condition. The giltwork is original and shows the passage of time. Many of these mirrors are very restored…this is not. The candle holders with their spiked receptacles are of the period. This mirror is indeed a treasure, and makes quite a statement reflective of the Rococo period with its great curves, scrolls, and acanthus leaf decoration.
