A Classical/Federal Mahogany and Bird’s Eye Maple Drop Leaf Table, probably Philadelphia, c.1815

This is a wonderful small drop leaf table with open lyres, supported by saber legs, which provide a very open, airy feeling, making it comfortable to use, as there are no straight legs to interfere.  This table has been realigned from its base at 90º so the lyres face the short end of the table.  However, all parts are original and we prefer to leave it as found, as the work done was first class.

Mention should be made of the casters which are not commonly found, however, original to the piece, and, of course, period.  A card table by Charles Lannuier, also in our collection, has very similar casters.
