A Classical/Federal/Sheraton Mahogany Chamber Stand, probably New York, c. 1815/20

DEACCESSIONED

This mahogany washstand is an urban piece, not of maple, cherry, or poplar. It is high style. The distinguishing feature are the beautifully turned baluster supports with magnificent reeding. One sees this in the early federal work done in New York, i.e. Phyfe School. In a formal Classical/Federal bedroom, this would certainly fit.

This piece is accompanied with a large washbowl with beautiful classical motifs. It is in fine condition, and probably identifiable by the numbers and imprint on the bottom. See attached. Together, they make a most decorative piece, with absolute museum integrity in all respects.
