These small casepieces can be used either as a dressing table in a bedroom or a small server in a dining room. The Curule base is highly desirable, harkening back to Grecian Classical form. The mahogany is highly figured and has developed over time a deep historic patina. A related table like this one is illustrated in Nancy McClelland’s seminal work on Phyfe, and his contemporaries (see attached). Of note, are the beautifully carved tiny paw feet of which all are in perfect condition. This is a superb, highly desirable form that makes an elegant statement of Classical furniture of the period in New York by Phyfe and his contemporaries, like Michael Allison, whose shop was in the neighborhood.
