This is an unusual candle stand, in that it has a basket used probably for sewing material. These are rarely seen and ours is in perfect condition, with a solid serpentine shaped top of beautifully figured mahogany (see details below). The basket is beautifully integrated into repeating baluster turnings. The base is classical in design, with a shaped contour all of which are supported by turned feet. Which are interestingly developed with half turnings, at each juncture of support.

We have French polished this piece, and it is in a beautiful state of preservation.
