A Queen Anne Black Japanned Tall Case Clock, England, 18th century. Clock works by Henton Brown, London

DEACCESSIONED

This is a good sized Queen Anne tall case clock retaining an early Japanned surface in the Chinese motif. The case was restored some time ago, and is in fine condition. The movement is an 8 day brass works by a good recognized English Clock maker. Brittan’s Clock Directory lists the maker as follows: “Henton Brown – Borough. Admitted C.C. 1726; Master, 1753; Livery, 1766; A maker of fine watches; 58 Lombard St. in 1754”.
