A Carved Rosewood Desk with Two Famille Rose Porcelain Inserts, China, 19th century

Announcement!  This item will be available at auction from Neal Auction Company on January 26th, 2019.  Preview exhibition is currently underway.  Click here to see our listings at nealauction.com.

This very interesting desk is finished equally on both sides, and the drawers similarly open on either end (both the lower drawer on the carved apron, as well as the two upper drawers that flank the porcelain inserts). The Rosewood is an Asian variation, and this piece is all of the solid. The two famille rose Porcelain inserts are in perfect condition, and clearly date this piece in the 19th century.

As this desk is finished on all sides, it can be used away from a wall in any number of decorative ways, as even a serving piece.

This desk is in excellent condition, and a distinctive Asian showpiece seldom found.
