This is a moderately sized girandole retaining all its original parts.  The mirror shows beautiful oxidation and a gilt in excellent condition.  The eagle is beautifully carved, holding a ball and is a classic of its type.  The leafage is beautifully carved with great dimension, and of course, all is of wood that has been gilt, not plaster.   Notice the carved spherules that surround the mirror.  They are small and placed fairly tightly together, indicating an earlier date of manufacture.
It came out of a local New Orleans family.
